This is our third collection of sketches from the three artists of Three Trees Studios: Dusty Roberts

, Matt Meyers, and me.

This issue focuses on collaborations between the three of us. Whether creating "creature jams" (each artist designing different parts of one character), jam comics (improvisational comics by multiple artists), or merely inking each others' work... the emphasis here is on the joy of friends creating cool stuff together! This cover image is a creature jam between Dusty and me which I inked and colored.

Gross Anatomy

I wonder if you're enjoying
the curvature of her back.
The spine, a row of ossified crowns
crowded and curved around that defining neural superhighway;
that extension cord,
adventurously connecting the visceral
to the peripheral.
The horseshoe crab vertebrae
scuttle to break through skin at your touch;
reach out,
a defining shiver.
I see your hands
around the rounded hills of her shoulders.
Scapulae jutting out with the extremity of the bend,
ungraceful,
like a chicken's wings.
And the bands of these dorsal muscles
stand up like wings,
cast shadows in the dimples of the pelvis that she lifts;
wings
that will fold o
